“The HCI Institute at Carnegie Mellon is searching for teaching track faculty with industry experience exploring new technologies and applying them throughout the human-centered design process. The qualified candidate is a user experience engineer (UXE), creative technologist, design technologist or other hybrid role with a proven track record of continuously exploring and learning new technologies in order to innovate, make new user experiences tangible and create new value by embracing the ever increasing pace of technology change.”
“We are seeking candidates with many years of industry experience as a user experience engineer (UXE), creative technologist, design technologist or other roles in which making functionally robust prototypes is essential to experimentation, feasibility testing and concept validation. The qualified candidate will have many projects that demonstrate the ability to rapidly learn new technologies and tools. Candidates with academic teaching experience and/or industry mentoring responsibilities will be preferred. We are particularly interested in people who build and test as a primary method to design human-centered products and services. The ideal candidate will have strengths in technical prototyping, front-end/UI development, cross-platform app frameworks, user research methods, product/service assessment, and data-driven innovation.”

European Artificial Intelligence Fund - Fund Director [Brussels]
European Artificial Intelligence Fund is hiring a Brussels-based full-time Fund Director to '“strengthen, cultivate and help to grow this funder partnership by acting as the liaison between the Network for European Foundations and the donors that contribute to the fund.”
The qualified candidate will have “Significant relevant professional experience (>5 years), preferably in an organisation of civil society or philanthropy Significant knowledge of the digital field or tech policy in Europe and a good comprehension of the AI challenges and opportunities in Europe.”
In this role, you will work on “Partner Management: Manage the fund’s relationships with the civil society organisations where funds are directed," and "Programme Management: Work closely with the fund’s Programme Manager to direct the execution of the fund’s strategy, including making critical decisions about timelines, balancing partner needs, and crafting systems and processes that will allow our grants to have maximum impact," in addition to "Grant Management: Work with the fund’s Programme Manager and the secretariat at the Network for European Foundations to track progress against grant goals and to forecast and track budget expenditures; assure compliance with all policies and procedures,” among other responsibilities.
The salary is € 65,000 – € 80,000 annually, and the closing date is December 13th.

Data & Society is looking for remote Faculty Fellows: Race, Technology, and the State for 2022-2023 “to join us for 10 months, starting September 1, 2022. Our fellows program helps ensure that new connections and perspectives deepen and expand our community’s understanding of the challenges and opportunities society faces in a data-centric world.”
“This is not a fellowship for those who want to spend a year head-down on an independent project. Rather, this is a program for people who are looking for ways to create impact both within and beyond their field as well as collaborate with researchers and practitioners. …Fellows commit to being an active participant with Data & Society for at least two days each week, although many Faculty Fellows benefit from deeper engagement.”
“For the 2022-2023 program, Data & Society is seeking two Faculty Fellows whose research projects specifically focus on issues of Race, Technology, and the State. Continuing Data & Society’s history of work on fairness, equity, and civil rights, these faculty fellows will bring a justice-oriented perspective and intersectional approach to their interrogations of race and data. This year we are particularly interested in projects that examine data-intensive systems of the State and how they intersect with processes of racialization.”
There is a $25,000 stipend, and the role closes on December 15th.
World Economic Forum - Project Lead, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning [San Francisco]
World Economic Forum Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is hiring a full-time San Francisco-based Project Lead, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to “work closely with the Platform Head to support strategy and operations for the overall platform and also support the Global AI Action Alliance launched by the Forum in early 2021 (an accelerator for projects and initiatives linked to AI).”
“The Project Lead will oversee a portfolio of projects and partnerships and facilitate collaboration internally and externally on the role of AI in areas like environment, health, manufacturing, energy, etc. and also the associated governance parameters. The Project Lead will help to facilitate engagement across the Forum's existing global communities of business executives, leading academicians from the world's top research universities, government officials, start-up community, media, civil society organizations, social entrepreneurs, and Centre Partners.”
“Successful applicants will have “Masters (or higher) degree in Public Policy, Management, Artificial Intelligence or other technology, or similar fields” and “7+ years of experience in private or public sector, including working on or consulting on relevant Artificial Intelligence related topics or technology policy and development,” as well as “Experience crafting public policy on Artificial Intelligence (such as regulations, standards, guidelines or other policy tools), ideally inside or with governments or global organizations or direct experience in technology applications or technology policy.”
Hugging Face - Data Engineer for Vision/Image Datasets (Internship) [Remote]
Hugging Face is looking to hire a remote Data Engineer for Vision/Image Datasets for a 3-6 month internship.
“As a data engineer for vision datasets, you will work on a 3-6 months project to catalyze progress in computer vision for the open-source and research community.”

In this role, you will “Work with new and existing Spectrum customers to fulfill their strategic and operational TS goals. Provide onboarding, integration (collaborate with your CS Implementation Engineer counterpart on the account), education and TS documentation to drive long term customer success and value with Spectrum,” and “Set customers up for success and successful launch of Spectrum to get full value from our technology and meet their desired business outcomes. Understand both their TS and business needs of customers assigned, and evolve as needed.”
Qualified candidates should have “2+ years of experience in Enterprise Customer Success supporting large strategic accounts with complex product implementation.”
The salary for this role is $115k – $140k per year.
Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy, NYU - NYU Technology Law and Policy Clinic Clinical Teaching Fellowship [New York]
Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy at NYU School of Law is seeking New York-based applicants for the NYU Technology Law and Policy Clinic Clinical Teaching Fellowship for a two-year fellowship “to serve as both a staff attorney and teaching fellow in the Clinic” to begin July 2022.
The qualified candidate will have “two to five years of post-law school work experience and be admitted or prepared to seek admission to the NY State Bar,” in addition to “a demonstrated interest in law and technology practice and/or policy work and experience in one or more areas, such as intellectual property, free expression and the First Amendment, privacy and surveillance, information security, or other related areas of law.”
“The Fellow will work on case matters, supervise students in both substantive and pedagogical respects, and participate in teaching the clinical seminar. This two-year fellowship, with the potential for a third year, is an ideal opportunity to develop a career in public interest advocacy and/or clinical teaching in areas related to technology law and policy.”

The NYU Center for Social Media and Politics (CSMaP) - Researcher (Research Software Engineer) [New York]
The NYU Center for Social Media and Politics (CSMaP) at NYU is seeking a New York-based Researcher (Research Software Engineer). “We are looking for a full-time software engineer to help build software and tools for collecting, processing, analyzing, and understanding large social media data sets.”
The qualified candidate will have “An undergraduate degree in computer science OR experience programming in relevant environments,” as well as “Significant knowledge and experience with programming in Python and large-scale datasets (both semi-structured data and databases).”
“The NYU Center for Social Media and Politics (CSMaP) supports research on (i) how social media impacts politics, with particular emphasis on the flow of information (and misinformation) on social media; (ii) innovative ways to use social media data to study politics; and (iii) developing open-source tools that facilitate the use of social media data for the study of politics.”

Google is hiring a full-time Child Safety Subject Matter Expert, Trust and Safety who could be based in one of a few U.S. cities.
The qualified candidate has a “Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.”

Carnegie Mellon University - Data Science for Social Good Fellowship [Pittsburgh]
Carnegie Mellon University has opened calls for its Data Science for Social Good Fellowship for its “full-time summer program to train aspiring data scientists to work on machine learning, data science, and AI projects with social impact in a fair and equitable manner.”
“Working closely with governments and nonprofits, fellows take on real-world problems in education, health, criminal justice, sustainability, public safety, workforce development, human services, transportation, economic development, international development, and more.”
“They are current (or recent) graduate and undergraduate students from quantitative and computational fields – from computer science and machine learning, to statistics, math, physical sciences and engineering, to social sciences, public health and public policy.”
“From June until ends of August, they will work in teams of 3-4 on data science projects in partnership with nonprofits and government agencies, to tackle data-intensive high impact problems in education, public health, public safety, transportation, criminal justice, environmental issues, city operations, and social services, learning from full-time experienced mentors and project managers.”
