New Careers in Responsible AI This Week!

All Tech Tech Is Human’s Responsible Tech Job Board curates roles focused on reducing the harms of technology, diversifying the tech pipeline, and ensuring that technology is aligned with the public interest. It is the premiere resource in the field for people exploring a career change, new role, or interested in the growing responsible tech ecosystem.

This week, we’re highlighting 10 roles in Responsible AI. We’re dedicated to mapping the Responsible AI ecosystem, highlighting the key organizations, roles, and people working to create a better tech future. Interested in learning more about Responsible AI? Check out our knowledge hub!

Director of AI Programs, Fast Forward

Fast Forward is seeking a Director of AI Programs to lead Fast Forward’s programming for nonprofits leveraging AI. AI is changing how all organizations work, including how nonprofits deliver impact. No one knows exactly how nonprofits should leverage these technologies to improve operations and service delivery.

The Director of AI Programs is a high impact role that will set the overall direction and then lead the delivery of how Fast Forward helps nonprofits make the best use of AI for improved operations and service delivery. In this role, you will meet with nonprofits to discover the problems they’re facing and explore what value AI for humanity may be able provide. Based on this discovery, you will shape the work of our collaborative team to design programs to assist nonprofits.

Postdoc in Responsible AI and Representation Learning, Technical University of Denmark

As machine learning and AI continue to shape society, the safety of AI systems is increasingly scrutinized. However, existing responsible AI tools are extremely limited in their ability to interrogate state-of-the-art AI systems. In part, existing research in algorithmic fairness, uncertainty quantification and explainable AI tend to focus narrowly on simple classification- or regression algorithms, whereas bias and explainability of generative AI remains underexplored. In part, algorithmic fairness in particular tends to focus on detecting and constraining demographic differences in performance without understanding where the bias comes from.

This project, you will be a part of, aims to take a fundamental look at how bias in training data affects the way that populations are represented in predictive and generative deep neural networks. To this end, we are looking for candidates with diverse experience from machine learning backgrounds, including uncertainty quantification, algorithmic fairness, or explainable AI. You will be a part of the research group of Aasa Feragen, which focuses on responsible AI for healthcare, often with applications in medical imaging.

Innovation Fellowship: Artificial Intelligence and Governance, Union of Concerned Scientists

The Center for Science and Democracy in the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) seeks outstanding candidates for an Innovation Fellowship to create and lead a body of work to refine our understanding of the risks and benefits of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) on democratic governance and decision-making. This two-year fellowship is open to candidates who will have completed their Ph.D. or another advanced degree in a relevant field before September 2024, or those with equivalent experience.
