Strengthening Multistakeholder Collaboration, with Jutta Juliane Meier
Jutta Juliane Meier is the Founder and CEO of Identity Valley. Jutta recently attended our curated gathering for 75 leaders on Strengthening Multistakeholder Collaboration in Responsible AI, held at the Finnish Consulate in New York on May 21, 2025.
Below are responses to three questions posed to Jutta.
How would you define and measure “successful collaboration” in the Responsible AI context? What specific indicators or outcomes would signal to you that multistakeholder efforts are making meaningful progress?
“Trust amongst the stakeholders is key. Also agreeing on some joint goals, working together to achieve them. Defining together what is meant by the Why? (Purpose/Mindset) the How? (Methods/Toolset) and the What? (Output/Impact) is always a good way to get things started. From our point of view it also needs a joint framework of goals to work on together- something like the SDGs but in the digital space.”
Have you observed a particularly successful example of multistakeholder collaboration in the Responsible AI space?
There are some emerging collaborations popping up in Europe - we are part of the Trust Expert Group at KI Park e.V. in Berlin, for example, a great ecosystem of startups, industry, non profit organizations, academia and politics. From our point of view the mix of diverse participants is absolutely essential to help make AI / Tech trustworthy, also joint goals are super important.
What specific knowledge, resources, or connections from your area of expertise are you able to share that might benefit stakeholders from different sectors working on Responsible AI?
We are exploring our framework of 7 Digital Responsibility Goals within different sectors, funded by the German government and the European Union. Our Goal is to create a transparent ranking of stakeholders, similar to an ESG reporting, but with indicators from the digital space. If consumers and customers and decision makers will be enabled to make informed decisions on what kind of technology is more trustworthy than a similar one, we can make a difference. Let's find the Patagonia(s) of the digital world, the good actors. Therefore we need some joint indicators we will be able to compare.
