Fall 2024 Internship Program (Paid), Observer Research Foundation America (ORF America)

Fall and spring internships at ORF America allow undergraduate and graduate students in the Washington DC area an opportunity for academic, professional, and personal development. Interns work closely with fellows and program managers to assist with research, writing, communications and other programming tasks.

For fall 2024, ORF America is looking for an intern to provide research and administrative support to the Cyberspace Cooperation Initiative within the Technology Policy program at ORF America. This paid internship will require in-person work at ORF America’s office in Washington, DC.

Compensation: This position is paid on an hourly basis ($18/hour). Interns will be expected to work 15 hours/week. 


Internship- Office of the National Cyber Director, The White House

The Fall 2024 term begins on September 16, 2024 and ends on December 20, 2024. Interns will receive a stipend of $10,500/$5,250 for participation in the program. Internships will be hosted in person on the White House campus, located in Washington, D.C. Please note that living accommodations and relocation support will not be provided. All internships are full-time/part-time and participants must be able to commit 35-40/15-34 hours per week (Monday-Friday).

Fall 2024 Communications Intern, Institute for Security and Technology

The Fall 2024 IST communications intern will work with IST’s communications and project teams to gain experience across a range of topics and projects, including ransomware, AI, and trust & safety. The intern will build valuable skills in social media management, press relations, event and podcast production, web development, narrative writing, and more. They will work directly with the Director of Strategic Communications. 

Compensation: This is a part-time, paid internship with a commitment of 15-25 hours per week, based on the intern’s availability. The position offers an hourly rate of $20. The internship duration is from August to December 2024.


Horizon Fellowship, Horizon Institute for Public Service

Fellows are selected for a one-year term at a federal agency, congressional office, or think tank, with the option of renewing for a second one-year term, potentially on a different institutional track. Junior think tank fellows are selected for a six-month term and can renew for a second six-month term. Horizon has a 100% fellow placement rate at host organizations. 

Compensation: Fellows receive a $105,000/year living stipend and junior fellows receive $70,000/year. Both also have access to more than $20,000 worth of benefits such as health care funds and professional development stipends. Increases may be considered on the basis of need


Data Science Teaching Assistant (Technology Fellowship), The Knowledge House

Reporting to the Data Science Instructor (Technology Fellowship), the Data Science Teaching Assistant (Technology Fellowship) will be primarily responsible for partnering with the Data Science Instructor to teach a Data Science Course to 25 adult learners in Stamford, CT. They will be a part of a four person program team managing a learning community through a workforce development fellowship preparing adult learners for jobs in Data Science.

Compensation: $27.50 hour for 25 hours per week


Winter Fellowship 2025, Centre for the Governance of AI

Summer and Winter Fellows join GovAI to conduct independent research on a topic of their choice, with mentorship from leading experts in the field of AI governance. Fellows will also join a series of Q&A sessions with AI governance experts, research seminars, and researcher work-in-progress meetings.

Compensation: Summer and Winter Fellowships last for three months, and Fellows will receive a stipend of £9,000, plus support for travelling to Oxford. While in Oxford, we provide our Fellows with lunch on weekdays and a desk in our office. This is intended to be a full-time and in-person role, based in Oxford, UK.


Irène Curie Fellowship, Eindhoven University of Technology

This PhD position is funded by the Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies (ESDiT). It will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), primarily by the Human-Technology Interaction Group, but also by the Philosophy & Ethics Group. The PhD will participate in the activities of these groups, as well as the recently launched, Expertise Centre Dementia & Technology.

Compensation: Internships are paid $20/hour. Candidates must be able to work 10-15 hours/week and commit to a minimum of three months.


Operations Intern (Trust & Safety - Wellbeing)- 2025 Summer (BS/MS), TikTok

TikTok is looking for talented individuals to apply for an internship in 2025. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths.

Compensation: $45 per hour


Winter 2025 Internship, Notion

During your 12-week internship, you will be paired with a mentor that will help guide you as you work closely with the Notion team to build and ship impactful projects. These projects will drive valuable impact to Notion’s customers and engineers. From product engineering, mobile, to infrastructure and security, Notion has opportunities available on different teams.

Compensation: For roles based in San Francisco or New York City, the estimated base hourly range for this role is $55/hr for Bachelors and $59/hr for Master’s.


Research Intern - AI Infrastructure, Microsoft

Research Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Alongside fellow doctoral candidates and some of the world’s best researchers, Research Interns learn, collaborate, and network for life. Research Interns not only advance their own careers, but they also contribute to exciting research and development strides. During the 12-week internship, Research Interns are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other Research Interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they typically begin in the summer.

Compensation: The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $8,500 - CAD $9,500 per month.
