U.S. Government Accountability Office, Science, Technology Assessment, & Analytics (STAA) Team, Innovation Lab is hiring a Washington, D.C.-based full-time Computer Engineer / Computer Scientist to help support “Congress in conducting technology assessments, oversight of federal science and technology programs, & development of innovative analytical techniques in carrying out audits and evaluations.”

The qualified candidate will have “1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band or level equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal Service, or comparable private/public sector experience,” in addition to a professional engineering degree.

In this role, you will “[apply] best practices in DevSecOps to configure, integrate, containerize, orchestrate, and harden open source, web, and cloud-based services, tools, and other computational resources within established information security boundaries,” among other duties.

The salary is $97,481 to $136,749, and the role is open until October 15th.

Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford - Associate Professor of AI & Society [Oxford, UK]

The Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford is hiring an Oxford-based full-time permanent Associate Professor of AI & Society, available from 1 March 2022, to “conduct outstanding empirical research related to the social and ethical impacts of AI, broadly construed, and will be comfortable collaborating across disciplinary boundaries, including engaging with philosophers and ethicists.”

The qualified candidate will have a doctorate, and the role is open to candidates with a background in “social science disciplines, including political science, communications, psychology, sociology, public policy, anthropology, development, geography and economics.”

In this role, you will “contribute research-led teaching and supervision for OII graduate students, and will also contribute to the delivery of core MSc courses including research methods teaching. They will also be a member of the Governing Body of Wadham College.”

Equality and Human Rights Commission - Equality and Human Rights Implications of Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technology, and Online Safety [Manchester, UK]

Equality and Human Rights Commission is hiring a Manchester-based full-time Equality and Human Rights Implications of Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technology, and Online Safety.

“The Commission seeks a suitably qualified contractor(s) who has the capacity, knowledge and expertise to research and scope issues relating to emerging policy areas: artificial intelligence, other emerging digital technologies, and online safety as relevant to our role and remit.”

The salary is £65,000.00 and the role is available until Oct. 14th.

Microsoft - Senior Program Manager, Responsible AI [New York]

Microsoft’s Responsible AI team is hiring a New York-based full-time Senior Program Manager to “drive Responsible AI product experience and implementation to enable developers to successfully and safely use OpenAI [generative language models like GPT-3] in real-world applications.”

The qualified candidate will have “a deep understanding of NLG-powered use cases and Responsible AI and a keen sense of product to define developer (and UI) experiences to let customers harness rapidly evolving technologies,” in addition to 5+ years in a product management role and 3+ years of experience in machine learning and/or AI.

In this role, you will “build and drive state of the art products that enable customers to apply AI responsibly,” and “develop a deep understanding of OpenAI’s API, customer use cases, and responsible AI practices.”

IKEA - Digital Ethicist [Delft]

IKEA is hiring a Delft-based full-time Digital Ethicist to “build awareness about digital ethics and why it matters to IKEA and wider society.”

The qualified candidate will have “a good understanding of social sciences, philosophy and technology, working in a related field for the last few years.”

In this role, you will “lead the implementation of digital ethics tools and methods and the facilitation of digital ethics assessments and decision-making. You will empower others to implement digital ethics best practices in their work by demonstrating how to apply ethical principles through examples, case studies and discussions.”

University of Michigan, School of Information - Anti-Racist Data Justice Faculty Position [East Lansing, MI]

University of Michigan’s School of Information is hiring an East Lansing, MI-based full-time tenure track open rank Anti-Racist Data Justice Faculty Position to “broaden existing scholarship within the school and the U-M community in the area of data justice in computing, technology, and policy, with a specific focus on commitments to racial justice and anti-racism advocacy.”

The qualified candidate will have “a completed Ph.D. in Information, Race and/or Ethnic Studies, Science and Technology Studies, or a related discipline.”

In this role, you will conduct research and teaching in an area that may include but is not limited to “critical data studies, critical algorithm studies, algorithmic inequality, science and technology studies, intersectional analysis of digital labor and precarity, racial capitalism and platform studies, social implications of data-driven systems, technology policy, ethics and politics of computing.”

Salesforce Research is hiring a Palo Alto-based full-time AI Research Resident for a “12-month research training program [which] is intended to kickstart or further one's experience in AI research. Residents will gain valuable hands-on experience in fundamental and applied AI research, working closely with Salesforce researchers. Our goal is to help propel residents and make them more qualified candidates for top PhD programs.”

The qualified candidate will have “a degree (MS or PhD) or equivalent experience in the STEM field such as CS, Math, Statistics, Economics, Bioinformatics, and related fields.”

In this role, you will “participate in Salesforce Research projects and areas of interest while earning their doctorate/graduate degree.”

The qualified candidate will have a “[b]achelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Program administration and or research experience may be required.”

First Nations Technology Council - Director, Strategic Initiatives [North Vancouver, BC, Canada / Remote]

First Nations Technology Council is hiring a North Vancouver-based full-time Director, Strategic Initiatives to “identify and articulate new opportunities, provide a strategic focus and plan for next steps, develop supporting materials including strategies, concept papers and proposals, and convert these strategic opportunities and relationships into concrete outcomes for the First Nations Technology Council.”

The qualified candidate will have a “[bachelor’s degree] in Business, Social Sciences, Arts, Indigenous Studies, or Technology related education. An MBA would be considered an asset,” in addition to “3+ years in a senior management role” and “3+ years in stakeholder relations, partnership development, or community liaison.”

In this role, you will “play a lead role in stewarding the Indigenous Digital Equity Strategy project and advancing the Technology Council’s work advocating for internet affordability and reliability in Indigenous communities,” as well as to “be responsible for the development of new strategic initiatives, including but not limited to business development opportunities.”

The salary is $85,000-$95,000, and the role is open until November 1st.
