U.S. Digital Corps - Fellowship [Washington, D.C.]
U.S. Digital Corps, a new initiative offering early career fellowship opportunities in public interest technology, has just opened their call for applications on a rolling basis until November 15 or until 300 applications are received, whichever comes first. This is a “paid, full‑time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits. Fellows will have the opportunity to convert to a permanent, full‑time position upon successful completion of the program.”
“Digital Corps Fellows will begin the two-year program at the GS‑9 pay level and receive a recruitment incentive.” This initial cohort will be comprised of 30 Fellows.
Successful applicants will be “recent graduates from qualifying associates, undergraduate, and graduate degree programs, as well as reskilling and other certificate programs…in five broad skill tracks: software engineering, data science and analytics, product management, design, and cybersecurity.”
The call is open until November 15 or until 300 applications are received, whichever comes first.
U.S. Federal Trade Commission - Technologist Hiring Program [Washington, D.C.]
The U.S. FTC is “seeking technology researchers, engineers, UX designers, content strategists, and product managers to join us at the FTC” for full-time roles based in Washington, D.C.
The qualified candidate will be “Equal parts systems thinker and advocate for end users and those affected by technology,” and have an “Ability to lead or contribute to investigative research, and conduct in-depth user interviews and usability studies,” among other skills and characteristics.
In this role, “you will be working on consumer protection or competition projects that are relevant to your specific area of expertise.”

Partnership on AI - Demo Data and Algorithmic Fairness Focus Group Consultant [San Francisco / Remote]
Partnership on AI is looking for a full-time remote or San Francisco-based Demo Data and Algorithmic Fairness Focus Group Consultant from January 2022 to June 2022 “to design and conduct focus-group interviews to inform the design of a guidebook for the Demographic Data workstream.”
The qualified candidate will have a “A Bachelor's and/or Master’s Degree with experience running focus groups,” and “Experience working in the technology sector, especially on AI-related teams” among other requirements.
In this role, “you will be responsible for applying your qualitative research and project management abilities to design and run focus groups with individuals across PAI’s Partner Network interested in responsibly using demographic data to inform fairer algorithmic decision making.”
The role is open until November 23rd.

Data & Society - Senior Researcher, Technology & Precarious Labor [New York, NY]
Data & Society is hiring a full-time New York-based Senior Researcher, Technology & Precarious Labor for an 18-24 month appointment “to pursue a new research direction exploring technology, access to resources, and precarious work.”
The qualified candidate will be “a PhD mid-career scholar, with a strong background in completed research.”
“The Labor Futures initiative seeks to illuminate how low-wage workers (and other types of precarious workers) are implicated in decisions to integrate technologies in the workplace. The researcher will have the opportunity to design, propose and complete original research projects exploring these themes both independently and in collaboration with the Data & Society research team.”
The position is open until November 30th, and the salary range for this role is “between $90,000 to $105,000.”

Stanford University, McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society and the Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI) - Embedded EthiCS Fellowship [Stanford, CA]
Stanford University’s McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society and the Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI) is hiring 1-2 full-time Stanford-based Embedded EthiCS Fellows for a one-year fellowship from September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2023 and is renewable for a second year.
“Stanford Embedded Ethics is a collaborative program that embeds the teaching of ethics directly into the core undergraduate courses of Stanford’s computer science curriculum. Working in collaboration with CS faculty and graduate students, the fellows will create curricular materials, course assignments, and teach ethics modules across three to six courses.”
The qualified candidates will have “a Ph.D. in philosophy, law, political science, information studies, or science and technology studies who can teach ethics (but ethics need not be their specialization).”
The Fellowship application will close on December 08th.
Aspen Digital - Program Assistant [Washington, D.C.]
Aspen Digital is hiring a full-time Washington, D.C.-based Program Assistant to help “shine a light on urgent global issues across the information ecosystem, cybersecurity, tech policy, emerging technology, urban innovation, and the industry talent pipeline.”

Sesame Workshop - Director of Research - Joan Ganz Cooney Center [New York, NY]
Sesame Workshop is hiring a full-time New York-based Director of Research at the Joan Ganz Cooney Center to “be responsible for spearheading different aspects of field and applied research, as well as related projects, fundraising, convenings, and partnerships.”
The ideal candidate “will have deep interest and expertise in the design of children’s learning media, various actors involved, and the journals, platforms, and conferences where relevant ideas are shared. They are excited about helping to bridge the knowledge base on how children learn with new innovations and technologies.”
You should have “5 years of experience conducting research with children and/or families,” as well as a “PhD, master’s degree, or equivalent experience in human-centered design, child development, communication, education, learning sciences, or related field,” and “Expertise in a variety of qualitative research methods and frameworks, such as ethnographies, contextual inquiries, diary studies, personas, user journeys, card sorting, and usability studies.”
University of Virginia, School of Data Science - Open Rank Professor of Data Science, Tenured / Tenure-Track [Charlottesville, VA]
University of Virginia, School of Data Science is hiring multiple tenure-track Charlottesville-based Open Rank Professors of Data Science with “methodologic expertise or applied experience in one or more domains of data science.”

Match.com - Senior Product Manager, User Trust & Safety [New York, NY]
Match Group is hiring a full-time New York-based Senior Product Manager, User Trust & Safety for the Hinge Team “to build out a suite of best-in-class abuse prevention and user safety features to keep bad actors off Hinge, promote good behavior & build a foundation of trust for all of our users on Hinge.”
The qualified candidate will have “5+ years product management experience in the B2C space or consumer B2B space with a strong preference for background in social platforms, fraud detection/moderation, and/or trust and safety.”
In this role, you will “Develop an in-depth understanding of the bad actor landscape and abuse trends within the Hinge community,” and “Build a roadmap and develop a long-term vision for bad actor prevention and user safety in partnership with engineering, research, data science, product, and community.”
Credo AI - Tech Policy Product Manager [Palo Alto, CA / Remote]
Credo AI is hiring a full-time remote or Palo Alto-based Tech Policy Product Manager “to address the world’s biggest challenges in scaling responsible, ethical AI.” They’re looking “for someone with a policy or legal background who is interested in gaining experience with product management and software development.”
The qualified candidate will be “comfortable interpreting regulatory and legal documents and language,” and "Has experience leading projects and managing timelines and deliverables across multi-stakeholder teams” as well as “Has conducted market and/or user research and evaluated qualitative and quantitative results to drive decision-making.”
In this role, you will be responsible for “managing the set of policy packs—collections of policies and controls that map to the different stages of the AI development lifecycle—available in our AI governance platform based on market research, customer feedback, and forthcoming regulations and standards.”
