Partnership for Public Service - Cybersecurity Talent Initiative Fellows [Washington, D.C.]

Cybersecurity Talen Initiative, a project of Partnership for Public Service, has an open call for applications until November 5th. This is an “opportunity for students in cybersecurity-related fields to gain vital public and private sector work experience.”

“Students in undergraduate or graduate degree programs in a cybersecurity-related field, such as computer science, engineering, information systems, and mathematics are ideal candidates for this program...Completion of cyber-related degree prior to federal agency start date is required.”

As a participant in the Initiative, participants “will be guaranteed a two-year placement at a federal agency with cybersecurity needs. Before the end of their federal service, participants will be invited to apply for full-time positions with the program’s private sector partners. Participants hired by these companies will also receive student loan assistance.”

The call is open until November 5th.

Columbia School of Social Work (CSSW), Columbia University - Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work or Associate Professor of Social Work (anti-Black and/or anti-Latinx racism) [New York, NY]

Columbia School of Social Work (CSSW) at Columbia University is hiring a full-time tenure-track New York-based Assistant Professor of Social Work or Associate Professor of Social Work, specifically “seeking scholars of race and racism, with a particular focus on anti-Black and/or anti-Latinx racism.”

The qualified candidate will have a “PhD in Social Work or related field.”

In this role, you will use a “systems science mindset…to explore how economic, education, criminal justice, child welfare, technology, implementation, and health systems are interwoven and have a deep impact on the well-being of Black and Latinx individuals, families, and communities.”

Partnership on AI - Methods for Inclusion Instructional Design Consultant [San Francisco / Remote]

Partnership on AI is looking for a full-time remote or San Francisco-based Methods for Inclusion Instructional Design Consultant from Mid-February 2022 to Mid-August 2022 “to advise on online educational best practices and create online learning resources for the Methods for Inclusion project.”

The qualified candidate will have a “Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in some combination of education, technology, or the social sciences,” among other requirements.

In this role, you will be “using your curriculum development, instructional design, and project management abilities to create engaging, informative, and visually compelling in-person and online learning experiences for individuals across our Partner Network interested in developing AI technologies inclusively alongside a diverse set of communities.

TikTok - Global Issue Owner, Minor Safety- Trust & Safety [Mountain View, CA]

TikTok is hiring a full-time Mountain View-based Global Issue Owner, Minor Safety on the Trust & Safety team “to develop the feature strategy, manage escalations and provide insights and strategic advise on enforcement, training and policy.”

The qualified candidate will have “12+ years of total working experience with 5+ years in trust and safety.”

In this role, you will “[w]ork closely with cross-functional partners (content policy, product, data analytics, operations, engineering, algorithm) to ensure safety of minors in our products,” and “[c]hampion community well-being and user safety through optimization of product safety features and product strategy.”

National Fair Housing Alliance - Data Scientist [Remote / Washington, D.C.]

The National Fair Housing Alliace’s Tech Equity team is hiring a full-time remote U.S.-based Data Scientist “who enjoys applying machine learning models and principles to uncover discriminatory patterns in data with a focus on data related to adtech, property appraisal, property maintenance, mortgage underwriting and pricing, and insurance underwriting and pricing.”

The qualified candidate will have a “BSc, MSc, or PhD in any field with at least 7 years, 5 years, and 2 years of industry experience in data science or machine learning, respectively.”

In this role, you will be “[e]ngineering features to find the ones most predictive to outcome of interest...Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis Testing machine learning solutions for fairness, accuracy, and stability, and writing parallel code to effectively transform big data Using state-of-the-art explainability techniques to reveal how selected algorithms make their decisions.”

The salary for this position is US$90,000 to US$120,000.

University of California, Berkeley Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences - Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science [Berkeley, CA]

University of California, Berkeley’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences is inviting applicants for a Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science “to teach Electrical Engineering or Computer Science courses should an opening arise,” and selected applicants will have the title “lecturer.”

“The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree).”

In this role, you will be “lecturing…[and] holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus) and maintaining a course website.”

The salary for this position is $63,788 - $85,788 (full-time rate) and positions typically range from 17% to 33% time in a given semester.

Colby College Department of Anthropology - Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), (Specializations could include Artificial Intelligence, Public Humanities, Environmental Humanities) [Waterville, ME]

The Colby College Department of Anthropology is hiring a tenure track Waterville, ME-based Assistant Professor with any of “a range of research specialties that could include but are not limited to the social, racial and ethical dimensions of AI technologies and algorithms; surveillance; DNA tests, genomes and related health technologies; social media; cryptocurrency; gaming and virtual worlds; indigenous data sovereignty; inclusive design; climate justice; hacker cultures and politics; and/or participatory research in the labs of and with AI scientists, engineers, and designers.”

The qualified candidate “must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, Ph.D. (preferred) or advanced ABD.”

In this role, you will “teach 4.5 courses a year.”

Sopra Steria Group - Digital Ethics Consulting Manager [Remote, EU]

Sopra Steria Group’s Digital Ethics & Tech for Good team I is hiring a full-time remote EU-based Digital Ethics Consulting Manager to “[help] clients in the public and private sector become more sustainable and responsible and use technology & business to create positive social impact.”

The qualified candidate will have a “[t]rack record of delivering business consulting and working with C-level client stakeholders · Commercial awareness – developing additional revenue, maintaining profitability levels, and managing strategic, value-adding partnerships,” as well as a “solid understanding of, and experience working in, the Digital Ethics landscape – standards, regulations, benchmarks, communities, business drivers, approaches, technologies, etc.”

In this role, you will “help identify and secure new client consulting opportunities, lead the design and execution of client work, lead delivery teams, and contribute to the continual innovation of our Digital Ethics capability (new products and services).”

The salary is £60,000 - £75000.

OpenAI - Research Scientist, AI Futures [San Francisco, CA]

OpenAI is hiring a full-time San Francisco-based Research Scientist, AI Futures. “Your work will involve analysing the impacts of AI and possible interventions for governing them, using knowledge and perspectives from social sciences and the humanities.”

The qualified candidate will have “[r]elevant knowledge and research experiences, such as a graduate degree in a relevant area (e.g. economics, history, or political science), or previous work on related topics.”

In this role, you will “be self-directed and will enjoy asking foundational research questions, challenging (and improving) existing frameworks for thinking about AI, and engaging broad audiences with their research. We're particularly looking for candidates who are open to pursuing unusually exploratory and open-ended research.”

Pinterest - Trust and Safety Signals Product Manager [San Francisco, CA]

Pinterest is hiring a full-time San Francisco-based Trust and Safety Signals Product Manager to “lead a cross-functional team that measures, detects and removes abuse on Pinterest at scale.”

The qualified candidate will have “3+ years product management or related experience, Trust & Safety and/or machine learning experience preferred.”

In this role, you will “Develop a deep understanding of adversarial tactics, machine learning development, and detecting unsafe content at scale,” and '“Build a roadmap and drive execution of signal development for the Trust & Safety Signals team,” among other tasks.
