User Researcher, Global Fishing Watch
The user research & stakeholder engagement manager will play an important role working across teams in the delivery of our organizational vision and mission, with a specific focus on user research and engagement to ensure new and existing products (tools and datasets) are built with a robust understanding and consideration of user needs. The role is part of a newly-formed user research team within the product team to formalize and strengthen our approach to user research while exploring creative ways to learn from our users. The individual will report to the senior manager, user research and work closely with other product managers as well as the program, engineering, research and communications teams, to deliver impactful and accessible products and data.

The individual will champion the implementation and delivery of the user research strategy under the Audacious project. A major part of the role will be to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, lead engagement activities to collect feedback on user needs, challenges, and motivations, and to co-develop solutions for our products to meet user needs and deliver their intended impact. They will work with leads in Product, Program, Research, and externally, to agree on priorities for product engagement, develop user personas, or profiles, of key user groups (notably fisheries managers, MPA managers, government decision makers, international institutions or forums, NGOs, and researchers) in Global Fishing Watch priority countries across Africa, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and the Mediterranean, and develop user research plans to accompany our country engagement plans. This role will also support developing user research plans for new features,  datasets and other program initiatives. Finally, they will identify new opportunities for engagement and impact through the formation and coordination of the GFW Product Advisory Committee, maintenance of stakeholder feedback channels and platforms, and collation of case studies and impact stories on how Global Fishing Watch data and products are or could be used.

Technical Support Consultant (Part-Time), Syria Justice and Accountability Center

The Technical Support Consultant will resolve technical requests from SJAC staff and troubleshoot technical issues, such as logging into SJAC email accounts, setting up desktop versions of Sharepoint, guiding staff in setting up BitLocker, etc.; Guide new SJAC staff through computer setup, including wiping existing hardware of historical data, encrypting computers with BitLocker, and installing necessary software, and more.

Director of Site Reliability Engineering, Wikimedia Foundation

Director of Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Director of SRE to lead its staff. Wikimedia Foundation’s Site Reliability Engineering team is responsible for ensuring our global top-10 web site and other public facing services are healthy, and developing its infrastructure, platform and services further in the enablement of Wikimedia Foundation’s mission. The SRE team comprises over 45 creative and talented staff members who are globally distributed, organized into seven teams each with their own scope and focus area.

Development Director, Climate Change AI

Climate Change AI is seeking a full-time paid Development Director to oversee fundraising efforts to support the organization’s mission. You will join a dedicated and mission-driven team of experts, work in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Project & Partnerships, and make a substantial contribution to how the organization develops.

Applicants to this position should have a proven ability to co-develop fundraising strategy and materials, and ability to implement organizational infrastructure and practices to support fundraising activities. Applicants should also be amenable to working in a startup-style environment.

Frontend Developer, Meedan
Meedan is seeking a front-end developer to join their 10-member software team. Meedan builds Check, a web platform for collaborative media annotation and claim-checking. Meedan' frontends include a React web app, a cross-browser Web Extension and a sophisticated Slack bot, all accessing our backend services via GraphQL and REST APIs.  

The successful candidate will participate in building and maintaining these frontends, bringing their experience and knowledge to produce high-quality code contributions and enrich the team’s collective assets and expertise. This role sits within Ofcom’s Public Policy Team. The Public Policy Team acts as the bridge between Ofcom and its work as an independent body, and the wider public policy, political and regulatory developments that affect the sectors we regulate. CyberPeace Institute is looking for a highly motivated Full-Stack Developer to join the CyberPeace Institute’s IT Team, developing web products to increase cyber resilience and accelerating the resilience of nonprofits to cyberattacks.  Your primary responsibility will be to work on the CyberPeace Builders platform.

Research Fellow - AI Trust & Transparency, Defence and Security, The Alan Turing Institute

The Alan Turing Institute’s Defence and Security has three aims – to support defence and national security agencies to keep societies and citizens safe; to protect the privacy and security of citizens, institutions, and industry; and to contribute to the global good by enabling societies around the world to derive benefit and prosper from emerging technology. To achieve these aims, the programme has formed long-term strategic partnerships, with the UK Government defence and security organisations, and a range of academic and industry partners.

The Research Fellow will work across the research portfolio to leverage the current understanding within the Institute to support the delivery of research and advice relating to the application of Trust and Transparency to AI within defence and security. This role will both directly address Dstl’s immediate research requirements and further develop this capability within MOD.
