All Tech Is Human Community Members Host an AI Governance Panel at the Paris Peace Forum and the AI Action Summit

On November 12, All Tech is Human community members Michelle Nie, Emma Cabalé, Eric Drury, and Elise Farge di Maria, hosted a panel in partnership with Sciences Po’s PSIA Tech & Global Affairs Innovation Hub as part of their side event for the Paris Peace Forum and the AI Action Summit.
The panel, titled “Cooperative AI Governance: Building Responsible AI Across Sectors,” moderated by Eric Drury (Director at Forthco.io), featured panelists Nicolas Miailhe (Founder & CEO of PRISM Eval and Founder & Chair of the Board of The Future Society), Tom David (Co-Founder of the GPAI Policy Lab), Caroline Lancelot Miltgen (Professor at Audencia), and Florian Cafiero (Fellow for Artificial Intelligence at Paris Sciences et Lettres University).
The panel highlighted the complexities of governing a rapidly evolving technology with global implications. Experts emphasized that addressing the safety and ethical challenges of AI will require ongoing, multi-stakeholder cooperation and a willingness to experiment with new governance approaches. Insights included:
Panelists emphasized the importance of international collaboration in AI governance, underscoring the need to align on clear thresholds, redlines, and common standards. They highlighted key global forums such as AI Summits, the United Nations, G7, and the OECD as playing a central role in facilitating and centralizing vital multilateral discussions.
Panelists highlighted the challenges of establishing global standards and norms for AI, given the fragmented landscape of national regulations, industry interests, and differing cultural and political contexts. They advocated for a "regime complex" approach that embraces convergence and coexistence of diverse normative instruments.
Speakers underscored the importance of involving a wider range of stakeholders – especially from the social sciences, humanities, civil society organizations, and voices from the Global South – in AI governance discussions.
