All Tech Is Human is Hiring a Community Manager

Founded in 2018, All Tech Is Human is a non-profit based in Manhattan with a global lens and reach committed to building a stronger Responsible Technology ecosystem to tackle thorny tech and society issues and co-create a tech future aligned with the public interest. 

The community that we are cultivating by bringing together a diverse range of individuals and organizations across civil society, government, and industry is a powerful force to affect the underlying tech pipeline, as new voices are entering the field who deeply care about the impact of technology. 

All Tech Is Human has a range of activities that are all connected to building community and strengthening the overall Responsible Tech ecosystem. This includes our 10k+ Slack group across 97 countries, a large mentorship program, regular working groups, summits & mixers, and topic-based roundtables and events. 

We believe in growing and diversifying the Responsible Technology community by creating pathways and developing opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, perspectives, and lived experiences to get involved in the field. Position Summary

All Tech Is Human (ATIH) seeks a Community Manager who is passionate about building, supporting and nurturing communities online and in-person. This person will create engagement opportunities that serve All Tech Is Human’s efforts to bring people, ideas and organizations together within the Responsible Tech space. 

The proactive candidate will develop, manage and grow relationships within the community to create meaningful engagement across our digital and social platforms, and at our in-person events. This candidate will ensure mutuality and respect, and embody our brand, mission, values and principles through various interactions with the community. Some travel required (10%), including ATIH hubs in London, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Create effective strategies to manage and moderate All Tech Is Human’s global Slack community (approximately 10K people).

  • Design opportunities to attract and engage with people within the Responsible Tech ecosystem (Responsible AI, Public Interest Technology, Trust & Safety, Cyber & Democracy, Tech Policy, and Youth, Tech & Wellbeing) across our digital and social platforms.

  • Support All Tech Is Human’s CRM/Hubspot rollout, and work with fellow(s) to better understand our community data.

  • Work closely with peers, including Program managers and Content manager, to align community efforts.

  • Strategize new opportunities and potential revenue streams for connecting communities with organizations.

  • Manage monthly in-person events from initiation to wrap-up for workshops, roundtables, mixers, and summits, setting deadlines and managing project risks. This includes:

    • Collaborate cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders to design events including developing concept notes, collaborating to create event agenda, and selecting speakers and guests.

    • Lead speaker outreach including inviting speakers, sharing Run of Show, arranging and leading Speaker Calls, and acting as a point of contact during event.

    • Spearhead collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and manage invitation lists and RSVP tracking including providing regular updates.

    • Work cross functionally with comms and design to produce event artifacts including event webpages, registration pages, banners, and signage.

    • Create communications including: invitation emails, application forms, blogposts, event information to guests, networking documents, panel development documents, Run of Show, event summary reports, and contribute to impact report.

    • Manage event logistics including venue booking, catering, and event supplies and day of execution.

    • Run weekly event check-ins and post-event wrap ups.

    • Coordinate, manage, and expand international volunteer pool.

    • Budget and financial management, including tracking accounts payable and managing vendor relations.

    • Develop and manage reporting mechanisms and data collection for impact reporting.

    • Contribute to integration between projects across Community, Education, and Career Development pillars and Focus Areas.

    • Develop processes and systems and continually seek ways of improvement as the organization grows.

  • Represent All Tech Is Human at virtual and New York-based events.

Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, equivalent certification, or equivalent experience

  • 2-4 years experience effectively managing community or community forums

  • Excellent writing and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience managing and/or familiarity with maintaining CRM system(s)

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while meeting deadlines

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively as part of a team and with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and perspectives

  • Passionate about providing individuals from marginalized and underrepresented communities with a respectful platform to discuss issues

  • Passionate about social impact

  • An understanding of the emerging professional fields of Responsible Tech

  • Familiarity with All Tech Is Human programs and community  

  • Commitment to All Tech Is Human’s mission, vision, core values, theory of change, and unique positioning in the field

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent oral presentation skills 

  • Self-starter

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Slack, Squarespace, Substack, Canva, Zoom, Airtable, Eventbrite, CRM (e.g. Hubspot)

What we offer 

Compensation: Full time employee salary of $70- 75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are  eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions.  Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 80 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are  eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
