Strengthening Information Integrity in the Age of AI: Our Partnership with UNDP’s Action Coalition

All Tech Is Human is proud to share reflections and recommendations emerging from our ongoing partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Action Coalition on Information Integrity in Elections. This collaboration comes at a pivotal moment for the future of democracy and governance in tech-enabled contexts.

In the wake of the so-called “Election Super-Year” of 2024, where nearly half of the world’s adult population had the opportunity to vote, 2025 continues to deliver a packed electoral calendar, unfolding against the backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty, authoritarianism, and mounting disruption. These elections are becoming pressure tests for the integrity of democratic systems worldwide.

One of the defining challenges of this moment, which was mentioned frequently during this collaboration, is the proliferation of generative AI, including the rapid rise of deepfakes, manipulated media, and AI-amplified disinformation. These technologies are increasingly being weaponized to undermine trust, confuse voters, and disrupt the flow of credible information during critical democratic processes.

Cross-Sectoral Responses to Systemic Challenges

In response, All Tech Is Human and the UNDP’s Action Coalition focused on providing clean, actionable recommendations from the election stakeholders to the practitioners working at the frontlines of election content issues, including but not limited to:

  • Tech platforms

  • Election management bodies (EMBs)

  • Government agencies

  • Civil society organizations

Our recommendations are meant to be practical, scalable insights. They are not tied to any single electoral context or moment, they are designed to be evergreen guiding principles and practices that can help reinforce the resilience and trustworthiness of elections around the world (both now and in the years to come).

Convening Global Leaders in Madrid

As part of this effort, we hosted a strategic convening in Madrid, Spain, bringing together stakeholders from across sectors and geographies. This dialogue centered on the emergent threats and opportunities for streamlined collaboration, exploring how different actors can work to fortify information integrity in democratic systems.

We discussed real-time response mechanisms, long-term capacity building, and the urgency of the moment and need for real multistakeholder cooperation. This work would not be possible without the insight and leadership of our founder, David Ryan Polgar, Associate Director, Sandra Khalil, Senior Fellow, Alexis Crews, and trusted advisor Leah Ferentinos, whose research, guidance, and support helped shape this initiative from the ground up. We also extend our thanks to the partners, platforms, and colleagues who continue to engage in this work.
