Leading Responsible Tech Organization All Tech Is Human Makes Key Hires to Expand Its Social Impact Career Work

(Wednesday, June 12, 2024, New York, NY) All Tech Is Human (ATIH), a non-profit committed to tackling thorny tech and society issues while moving at the speed of tech, announces today the appointment of Ali Feldhausen as the Director of Tekalo and Career Development, and Matthew Skomarovsky as Senior Fullstack Engineer. These two key additions to the team will allow the organization to continue building the world’s largest multistakeholder, multidisciplinary network in Responsible Tech.

Today’s announced hires will enhance All Tech Is Human’s career-related programming that empowers recent graduates, career-changers, and a broad range of technologists and non-technologists interested in social impact work. The organization is committed to diversifying the backgrounds and disciplines involved in the growing Responsible Tech ecosystem, which includes Public Interest Technology, Responsible AI, and Trust & Safety. Through multistakeholder community-building, multidisciplinary education, and career development activities, All Tech Is Human leverages collective intelligence to provide impactful environments for change including its leading Responsible Tech Job Board, a talent pool including more than 6,000 people, regular livestreams related to career advancement, and the social impact talent platform Tekalo.

“We can build a better tech future by altering the makeup of the workforce involved in the process,” says Rebekah Tweed, Executive Director of All Tech Is Human. “There is a broad range of individuals passionate about building a highly impactful career in responsible tech, but they often lack the necessary clarity of the ecosystem, pathways, and career guidance and support. The additions of Ali and Matthew greatly enhance All Tech Is Human’s capabilities to uplift more individuals into careers that have a major societal benefit.”

In her new role as the Director of Tekalo and Career Development, Feldhausen will oversee the use and expansion of Tekalo, along with All Tech Is Human’s growing career development programming. Tekalo provides social impact tech job opportunities at no cost to those on the Tekalo platform, alongside free matchmaking services to non-profit organizations and governmental bodies in the United States.

Before joining All Tech Is Human, Feldhausen was the Director of Insights and Engagement at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development’s Tech Talent Pipeline (TTP). While at TTP, she was responsible for overseeing the CUNY 2X Tech Initiative, maintaining partnerships across the tech ecosystem with employers and education providers, and leading the CUNY Computer Science Career Development Council, a consortium of career development specialists from across CUNY. “Working in tech career development broadly, I am excited to bring my expertise and knowledge to the responsible tech arena and develop more diverse pipelines into this growing space,” says Feldhausen.

Feldhausen has also written articles on transportation and labor policy for WNYC, drafted the Gender Parity Strategy to promote greater workforce gender diversity at the UNFPA, and conducted research on domestic worker labor policy in Brazil under the auspices of Columbia and the Fulbright Program. She holds a B.A. in International Relations and Politics from Scripps College and a Master of International Affairs with a specialization in Technology, Media, and Communications from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Matthew Skomaovsky is a software engineer and public interest technologist who joined All Tech Is Human to support the Tekalo project as a Senior Fullstack Engineer. Skomaovsky’s journey into tech work began with building software tools for social justice organizing and investigative research. He was a co-founder of LittlSis.org, a collaborative research app used by academics, journalists, and organizers, where he was the lead engineer until 2016. Matthew has worked for nonprofits including The New York Public Library and Freelancers Union, and several public benefit startups, most recently HealthSherpa.

“I think now more than ever people with a drive to create more responsible systems and paradigms need to collaborate and organize, and I’m excited by all the ways that All Tech Is Human is facilitating that,” says Skomaovsky. “I’m really thrilled to work on the Tekalo platform. There are so many technologists out there looking for opportunities to do good in the world, and lots of great organizations are looking for their help. This project has tons of potential to make much-needed connections in the responsible tech space.”

All Tech Is Human’s career activities are free to the public, thanks to the support of Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, Oak Foundation, Schmidt Futures, the Future of Online Trust & Safety Fund, and the Siegel Family Endowment.
